Thanksgiving Prayer

SPECIAL GROCERY LIST
From a friend's email

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her
face, walked into a grocery store.

She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and
asked if he would let her charge a few groceries.

She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to
work, they had seven children and they needed food.

John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she
leave his store at once.

Visualizing the family needs, she said: 'Please, sir! I will bring
you the money just as soon as I can.'

John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not have a
charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the
conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told
the grocer that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her
family. The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, 'Do you have a
grocery list?'

Louise replied, 'Yes sir.' 'O.K' he said, 'put your grocery list on
the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you
that amount in groceries..'

Louise hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into
her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on
it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her
head still bowed.

The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the
scales went down and stayed down.

The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and
said begrudgingly, 'I can't believe it.'

The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on
the other side of the scales. The scale did not balance so he
continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales
would hold no more.

The grocer stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the
piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement.

It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which said:

'Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.'

The grocer gave her the groceries that he had
gathered and stood in stunned silence.

Louise thanked him and left the store. The other customer handed a
fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said; 'It was worth every penny
of it. Only God Knows how much a prayer weighs.'

THE POWER: When you receive this, say a prayer. That's all you have
to do.

Just stop right now, and say a prayer of thanks for your own good
fortune. Then please send this to all your friends and relatives.

I believe if you will send this testimony out with prayer in faith,
you will receive what you need God to do in your and your families'
life .

So dear heart, trust God to heal the sick, provide food for the
hungry, clothes and shelter for those that don't have as we do.. Amen
& Amen

A woman's Wisdom

Don't break the elastic!
In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.
And, there on television, she said it was “exciting.”
Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day.....like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Maya Angelou said this:
“I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.”

“I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.”

“I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.”

“I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as making a life.”

“I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.”

“I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back.”


“I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision.”


“I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.”

Friday Red Shirts

While our troops are in harms way in Afghanistan, President Obama is putting the situation in the back burnner until his health care passes in the congress. He will ignor the General's request for more troops. He is busy trying to pay back his political friends in Chicago for campaining an Olympic bid but he doesn't have time for our troops. According to a White House Press, "He will study it as long as it taks." He doesn't care our troops need help now.

I received this letter by email from a friend. It moved me and I hope that this moves you as well. I realized that our troops need our supports more than ever. Even though, they don't get our president's support.

If the red shirt thing is new to you, read below how it went for a man....

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together...

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.

Heading out I asked?

No. I'm escorting a soldier home...

Going to pick him up?

No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq, I'm taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.

I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.

Red Fridays

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday--and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that... Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women a far, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV--let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is. "We need your support and your prayers." Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

A old man is sick on his bed and he is ready to die.
He called his lawyer and IRS agent to come over before his last breath.
As they arrived, he asked his lawyer to stand on his right and IRS agent on his left on his bed sides. His lawyer and IRS agent felt hornored and special.
However, they were curious why he asked them to be there instead of his family members.
So, they asked the old man why he wanted them to be on his bed sides.
The old man said to them, "I want to die between two sinners like Jesus."
